Fedex rates

Hello I just got a quote for shipping a large but lightweight package across the country. 33" x 22" x 75" 15#. They quoted $25 and did not ask size of pacakage.

Seems wrong.

What is your experience with them shipping large stuff?

I've had this happen to me at the post office before, the fellow forgot to ask for the size of the package. Once I got there and he saw it, it got more expensive. Did you ask him specifically about the size? If you didn't, he might have forgotten... maybe call back and ask?

Anyway, sorry that I don't have any oversized FedEx shipping experience to share... I have shipped two 38# 617 flywheels with them and both shipments went very well.

I was quoted over $2000 for that arrangement with their online tool. - which changed the package type to "skid" automatically. hmmmm?

you have surpassed their guidelines. 108"... not good.

thats about the price of a nice parts car, isnt it?

You will probably need to ship that by Fedex Freight, which is the next door over. Fedex Freight, Express, and "Home" are actually three different companies with different terminals, rates and rules. Make sure they understand the size, because it's cheaper to get it right than to have it rebilled later. If you and the recipient are near a Greyhound terminal, check with them. They have a service for bulky items that utilizes spare space on their intercity busses, but there's no home delivery.

From one to two thousand depending on who buys the parts.

Just checked and fed ex freight is $300 or so. Yikes! I don't understand, I know it did not cost that much to ship when I bought it a few years ago.
