I think the first and second gear synchros were the problem. However, the engine blew and the car is now for sale. The Jaguar is still in the shop. The Japanese win by attrition.

And now, my 2022 Honda Pilot is history, and my primary car is a 2025 Honda CR-V Sport, which is the base CR-V if you want a hybrid.

Likes: 37 mpg! Very smooth drivetrain with the electric motor providing good midrange torque. Much more maneuverable than the Pilot. Surprisingly good highway car, definitely better than the gas-only CR-V.

Dislikes: Needs about 35 more horsepower to be truly entertaining to drive. Government-mandated warning kazoo when driving in electric-only mode garners strange looks from pedestrians. The placement of the hybrid battery in the former spare tire well means that the spare tire is former as well. Low rolling resistance tires feel greasy on wet interstates.

Verdict: Pretty good old-fart car that needs better tires.

Is there a law preventing disabling noise pollution device?

Probably. It also creates a warning on the instrument panel.

Good choice on the hybrid CRV based on talking to a good friend of mine that owns one and from what I've read.

Thankfully the tranny in it is not a convention CVT. It is really not even a transmission in the conventional sense. They call it an eCVT transmission. Google it and you can read all about it. It is quiet an innovative approach in my opinion. PC keep us posted regarding what dlr recommends/suggest regarding routine maintenance on the unit.

The ride is markedly softer, and my past experiences with Defenders is that they appear to be more resistant to picking up nails, which was the nail in the coffin for the OEM tires on the CR-V

This is an old one since 2016 I've had 5 or so daily driver 1/2 ton trucks, 3 Rams, 1 Silverado, and 1 GMC.

Current ride is a 2023 Ram Laramie that's pretty loaded. I just went and looked at 1/2 trucks, I don't like the Tundra, I don't like Fords, and GM has to actually come out with a new truck and motors that don't explode. So I guess I'll be getting another Ram this fall.

I replace my daily rides every 2-3 years, I have zero interest in doing anything to them other than pressing the start button and putting gas in them.

Now my project cars and boats, those are fun!
