Anyone know any resources to find a car that you used to own?
I've been interested in buying back a family car that is very sentimental. It was sold about 9 years ago and went from one owner to another. I've found it's still on the road, and I know it's in my area and I'd like to contact the owner. Is there anyway to find out who owns a car now? I already called the DMV, and as I expected, they can't reveal any information as it's a breach of personal information.
Anyone have any luck with this? I've been searching around.

Some brands have databases if they are cult classics.

If you have a friend in the system....a police officer? Clerk in the police station? Those with access can help if they choose to bend a rule or two.

I was able to locate a '68 MG that my dad used to have through a friend on the police force. Sadly, the car was a rusted out shell by the time I found it...and not worth buying back for him.
