Thanksgiving

Hello!

We are having T day today with our kids and grandkids so they can all have it on actual T day with the inlaws. I helped chop the veggies, apples, Onions and bread going into the dressing. The Mrs. makes a mean dressing which causes any other dressing to hang its head in shame. Yum!

I love the smell of the house with a cooking turkey!

Mrs B & I are going to butcher a couple of our geese.

Our kids, grandkids, siblings, nieces and nephews are coming in. Hoping two geese will be enough. Along with veggies, venison, fish (from our pond), and preserves. Oh yeah, cornbread dressing and dirty rice.

Ours will be on the traditional day, though various permutations of guests will be present starting this coming Saturday.

I have a couple of friends who adopted a girl from China. Since the adoption they have been inviting foreign grad students to their house for thanksgiving. They invite guests to bring a traditional side dish of their culture. It's a lot of fun and an amazing mix of characters. I miss that.

Yes, friends too. Our unofficial godmother to our kids, a teacher my wife taught with, my brother, and the next door neighbors who have no family here. Everybody brought something. Our neighbor is an octogenarian editor and she is a former stock trader in Japan (I believe that is correct) who is our age and an incredibly ambitious gardener who has an enormous yard filled with needy flowers and such.

I had a couple glasses of wine and did not make myself uncomfortable by over eating.

A lovely afternoon and early evening.!
