Just wondering, has anyone read the book?

I haven't seen the movie, but I own the book and have read it 3 or 4 times...I'm just wondering how bad they butchered the storyline into the movie.

Not that I won't see it; I want to... I'm just curious.

Gotta love Tom Clancy...I'd love to see "Debt of Honor" and "Executive Orders" made into movies...but they'd have to do it right.

The Sum of All Fears is a very well-made movie and it follows, as well as a 2.5 hour movie can, the book, although the interests of certain of the characters (some bad guys) really isn't explored well enough. Tom Clancy is an executive producer of the film, specifically to make sure his book wasn't screwed up too much. I really enjoyed the book as well.

I saw it in a packed house on a Saturday night. At the pivot point in the movie (won't ruin it for those who haven't seen it) and for a prolonged period afterward, you could've heard a pin drop in the theater. I couldn't help but think about certain recent events while what was going on in the movie was taking place.

One really nice Benz gets torched at the end of the film. Should've used a Volvo but it would've been out of character for the driver.

The Tom Clancy book I'd like to see as a movie (but will likely never be made) is "Red Storm Rising." If you don't remember, it's "Harpoon" (the computer wargame) put in book form.
