Smile question to the techies

I am going to have my car worked on over the summer.. actually soon, since I am leaving for Europe for a while. I am leaving my car with the tech and he will be doing work. I have noted every single thing, big or small that I would like fixed or replaced. Here is a list of things I will ask my tech to check or fix:

Driver inner door lock replacement
Driver door (needs more pull than other doors)--lubrication?
Passenger door missing a screw on the door
Antenna mast replacement
front passenger head rest button broke (replace)
seatbelt for front passenger needs to be reversed
front passenger door side skirt (corner sticking out)
All four windows (replace switches & front regulator)
Engine cleaning
replace all filters
replace zebrano wood console with a better one (if possible)
A/C work
Bumper *replace front with a SEC bumper*
Fuel pump redplacement
Brake rotors replaced
Power doorlocks
check to see if timing chain is OK

My question is.. by looking at this list, what sort of price would one expect to pay to have all this done? Is this roughly a $2000 job? more? less? Some things.. such as replacing the bumper with an SEC and/or engine cleaning would be a biggie.. and I have no idea how much that would cost. I would just like to be familiar with a price range. thanks

Well I figure for you parts would come in probably at $1000 if not more.

Labor is where you are going to pay the most. You should try to calculate the time for each repair and the parts cost for each repair to get your estimate..

Snibble I must say that is one of the nicest looking 126's I have ever seen. Do you happen to know who owns it or anything about it?

I've looked at it and looked at it, and to be honest, it just doesn't "do anything" for me personally, I think I like it better like it was. Looks out of place somehow. Maybe I'm a purist or something, I didn't really consider myself one though. I wonder how the gaps are when you see it in person.

What I mean by gaps is that the SEC has a different hood, fenders and headlights than a SE or SEL. I would think that because of this, the top of the bumper would have a different shape between these 2 models so that the bumper would have a matching contour and have an even gap between the bumper and these other parts. My concern would be that a bumper from an SEC would not match the grille, headlights and fenders, the gaps between the parts wouldn't look right. I can't tell very well just from the picture you posted.
In general, and this is only my opinion, even if the gaps were correct, which I doubt, it just doesn't look "right".

Ah ha!....After finding this thread, looking closer at the pic's of my car I think I see where the gap concerns are coming from. Are you guys talking about the gap between the headlight bezels, the grille & the bumper?

If that’s what it is, I think the dark paint of my car is reflecting in the chrome on the bumper and making it appear that there is a large gap there. I didn’t really notice it in the pic’s because I see my car in person all the time. Anyway, I measured 3/8” of a gap from corner to corner between the bumper, bezels & grille.

Gilly, I went over the installation a little more in-depth in a different thread….In case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the jist of what I did……I used my SEL’s existing chrome & bumper support with the SEC bumper cover. The contours would be all wrong otherwise like you said and I wouldn’t be able to close my hood either.

Snibble, could you measure the gap on your car for comparisons sake?
