Why not get a 560SEL instead of the euro-spec 500SEL? 560 has similar hp, more torque, I believe.
And a US-spec 560SEL comes with everything. EVERYTHING. And personally, a W126 looks kinda weird with the tiny euro bumpers on it. Give me the huge, protective US bumpers for defense in crowded parking lots. And 560SELs are a LOT easier to find and buy. -Sam |

The 560 has bad gas mileage compared to the euro spec 500. The 500 came with everything too it was the top of the line back in 1980-1985.
Hum I guess the bumpers are a matter of preffrence but When I see US bumpers I just think they stick to fat out and look out of place. |

The euro bumpers look good in europe and the US bumpers look good in the US.

Out of curiosity, what was the euro-spec 500 SEL's typical fuel economy? My experiences with a US-spec 380SE show that it typically gets around 18 in the city, 22-24 on the highway (depending on mountain passes, how many people/how much stuff is in the car, etc, etc).
