kids throw eggs while I'm doing 80mph on I-90

Okay, so it's 1:30am, I just got home from Chicago in the 300E 5-Speed. About 2/3 of the way home we go under an overpass doing ~80mph when I hear that sound of something hitting the rough quite hard. I fear the worst, thinking rocks. I notice the semi in front of me pull over, and I precede to pull over. I get out, grab my Mag-Lite from the trunk and inspect the car. Luckily it appears to have no apparent damage. Couldn't tell if it was a paintball or an egg. We decide that we might as well get back on the road, and reported the incident to the state police. So I get home and pull out my Meguiar's Quick Detailer to remove the residue which appears to be egg. And I notice the large paint chips on my sunroof. Arghh!!! At least it's not that bad, I'll fix it myself. Hope the Police got them, because I think throwing things at cars doing 80+ is not wise...they are lucky no one lost control and crashed.

I was driving the s500 an old boss of mine used to own in vegas, some punk threw a rock through the windshield, that is after it bounced off the hood. Needless to say, there was a high speed pursuit for about 10-15 minutes before the cops finally caught up to us. The punks got arrested, and we had a blast chatting with the cops.

flying objects

a month ago was on I-75 near tampa and an ashphalt truck pulls out doing about 80mph into middle lane and proceeds to pelt everyone behind with hail size chunks of ashphalt!

was lucky not to get a busted windshield ...

anyhow rather than do 100mph to pass him just pulled entirely off the road and waited 3 minutes to take off again

I would have wanted to, and felt like doing so, but vehicular assault is a far more grievious crime than petty vandalism. I don't argue with chasing after him until the police arrive....that would be kind of fun, like something out of "Ronin".

Throwing anything off an overpass is plain dumb.

In Germany, a son of an American stationed there threw a rock which went through a windshield killing a lady.

Here in Columbus, a Kid did the same, but instead of killing the man driving, he blinded him.

Shows you that these things are serious and police should catch those punks. But I doubt they would do anything pass writing down the incident on paper.

Why do people do this it's just dumb. I remeber when I was little kids throwing ice/snowballs at my mom's Lincoln Contiental. they hit the side she slamed on the brakes got out chased them and took them to thier house and made there parents pay for the damage to the door.

Shaun:
I had one problem similar to this on I-90 (Northwest Tollway). I drive bus (motorcoach) for Van Galder Bus in Janesville, WI, you've probably seen them around Chicago, although they were bought by Coach USA a couple years back.
Once in the area around the S. Beloit toll plaza, a punk in the passenger seat of a Pontiac GrandAm threw a McDonalds bag full of I assume McDonalds wrappers at the front of the bus, no idea what that was for---just being punks I guess. Took the license number and the cops went to the house in Rockford. The plates came back to a different car than the black Pontiac I saw. When the officer got there, the plates were on the car it belonged on, but there was a black GrandAm in the driveway without plates on it. Didn't do a damn thing about it.
Also on the Northworst Tollway, one of our buses had a rock dropped into the windshield from the Elevator Rd overpass, the first one eastbound past the S Beloit toll plaza. "Luckily", if you can call it that, it hit the far right windshield post and landed in the aisle between the seats. Old, old lady sitting in the front seat of the right side got some glass on her, didn't get hurt I guess, I wasn't driving it.

Last time I checked my law books, throwing rocks at moving vehicles while in a moving vehicle is a form of assault not "vandalism." If they are close enough I would consider it my duty to "disable" their vehicle, then call the police. Call it whatever you prefer.

the punk that threw the rock went to jail. He was arrested for assault, malicious intent, reckless driving, destruction of personal property, evading the police, and several other charges.

Needless to say, he pleaded guilty because he would have been seriously in trouble had he tried to plead not guilty, with two eye witness testimonies against him. He knew he was screwed, so he didn't screw himself more. I didn't get a free trip to vegas on the city unfortunately. I was so hoping he wouldn't plead guilty, I would have enjoyed a week long stay at the cities expense..

I drive coach out here in the Bay Area! Nice to meet another coach operator-fairly rare.

I picked up a load of high school kids from Norway one time. Picked them up fresh off the plane from Norway, first time anywhere and first time in the wild, wild west...

Yup, on the way to the school in Los Gatos, on Hwy 17, (freeway) got a bullet!!! through a side window!!!

Welcome to California kids!

My neighbours brand new BMW was pelted with an egg while parked in his driveway. Some would think Big Deal its only an egg. Well the egg impacted the upper edge of the trunk lid and left a pattern of paint chips reflecting the fracture pattern of the egg shell, approximately 1" =/- in diameter. The trunk lid would have to be re-painted to remove the mark left by the egg shell. Nasty bit of work.
