I don't know how but there's a way to lock your credit....

This prevents anyone from taking out loans or getting credit cards in your / her name .

I froze all 6 (3 me, 3 my wife) about 5 years ago. It's free to unfreeze and you do it online. I have had to unfreeze a few times for cell phones, TV, utilities ect.
