Thumbs down For Profit Prisons

Agreed but, you'd best step away from this else the thread will need to be moved to the whackos religion & politics forums when the facts regarding for profit prisons are mentioned .

I suspect the move from pot by users to more serious drugs. Is about the only concern many might have. There is no proof that is an actual reality anyways.

So far up here in Canada where it is totally legal now. It has gone pretty quiet as a discussion about the legalization aspect. Or any noticable effects of it.

What is bothersome. Since it is legal one would think anyone could grow it and sell it. Just paying the federal tax on the sales. I do not think this is allowed. I should apply for a legal growing license just to see.

I see no reason one could not grow a legal product for resale. Yet if I were to grow a patch today without a license. I could run into serious difficulties I suspect. Why am I limited to four plants per year for self consumption?

I do not grow or use it myself anyways.

This just occurred to me. Plus why do you have to present a legal drivers license to purchase it? This could provide a data base for police use with vehicle stops. I do not have to produce a license to buy booze. Unless I appear underage. This may be a reason that you can only buy from legally sanctioned outlets.

I still believe employers can demand drug tests. This could become quite messy if you tested positive for use. When the product is legal.

Same as with alcohol.

Again I have seldom seen an issue of this magnitude go so quiet after legalization. Before hand it was like a circus by comparison in Canada.

I think it might have shocked the system when they saw the huge demand they could not meet. Perhaps an indication of how much usage was really out there when it was illegal. For example I see no reason that people would have had any reason to stock up initially.

A member mentioned that America had an oversupply this year. It suprised me that they would not bring some of it in as an import and sell it through the official channels. At least until Canadian production met demand. The government wants to see the taxes on sales.

Talking Stoners Rejoice

As I was on my way to the hospital with an overdose I noticed a billboard about buying pot by mail, the tag line was something like " buy OnLine & delivered by mail ~ it's LEGAL and easy !" , the day after I was waiting for a stop light and a car with a wrap had the same advertisement so I guess you're right about the demand .

If stoners would just stop lying about 'I need medical cannibus (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, knowhutimean ?) ' they'd find thngs a lot easier .

The local stoners got me summarily booted off nextdoor for pointing this out .

I'd think this might be a good thing to invest in right now .

Free pot in jail. We can easily easily pay for it by taxing the rich. Said in B. Sanders monotone voice.

I have not given any thought about the investment potential. I know at least one member has mentioned he has some shares.

Two factors though. It is legally priced higher than when it was illegal. This will mean illegal and untaxed sales will probably persist. It is probably illegal for the growers to sell it this way. The buyers from them are probably not at risk of legal jeopardy.

What I do not know is the price the legal growers are paid for product. Versus their production costs. Some investigation might show it is better to invest in the retail segment of the product rather than the production end.

Why I never got excited about the investment potential. Tobacco products and booze are very heavily taxed in Canada. For example I think a package of cigarettes are about 17.00. I cannot see the government going soft on the taxation amounts on the legal weed product.

The abuse of the weed is as damaging to people as much as booze I imagine. Legalized or not probably does not make much difference. Those that will abuse either will get product. One way or another.

We do have a pill type epidemic though. I have been hearing of more and more people being damaged by them.

The legal growers are having various issues in Canada. This is being reflected in their share prices dropping. I believe it is only a temporary setback.

Not that I would but why is their a growing license required to grow it for the system? The product is legal and as long as the taxes are submitted there should be no issue.

Talking Stupid Doper News :

In Los Angeles a couple of brain deads robbed a dispensary and the cops showed up so they barricaded themselves inside for hours.....

Interestingly, they didn't get high inside as the hours passed .

Someone told me to try CBD for SWMBO's arthritis , she says not a chance, I dunno about it, supposedly you cannot get high off CBD but.......
