I like most reflect on our parents lives . It erupts somewhat unexpected from time to time. In my case they have been gone for some time now.

It is sad to lose our parents but we do. A lot of members have gone through what you are now. All will be sorry to hear of your loss.

Well, I have half the genes. Paternal side pops early due to cardiovascular disease.

I’ve been visiting her almost daily for an hour or so since last year. She was a stubborn, independent old woman. She lives alone until her stroke in late August. I’m not looking for sympathy, though it is a generous sentiment that I appreciate. Really, I wanted to brag about what a remarkable woman she was. I’ll miss her.

The stories my grandmother tells me are mind blowing. First hand knowledge of the depression, life during every major event and how it was handled. I understand the feeling Bot.

Condolences Botnst,

For certain a "remarkable woman" and life, brag about her often, cherish the memories. Sorry for the loss, our thoughts are with you.

Be well.

Wow 101! Think of the things that she has seen. And experienced. Hope the family caught all that.

She remembered the gas lighters walking the streets at night lighting street lamps in Philly. The was talking about a lovely stream than ran near her home in Somerton and I found it on GoogleEarth, It is now a park. That made her smile.

My sincere sympathies Bot.
I am always reminded of Tennyson when a sailor passes on.

...For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have cross ’d the bar.

May she rest in peace.

Along that being, Stephen’s epitaph:

Home is the sailor
Home from the sea
And hunter, home from the hill.
