Chip foose talks about the 32 ford

https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2019/10/28/chip-foose-designer-love-32-ford?utm_source=SFMC&utm_medium=email&utm_content=Daily_News_Tuesday_Oct_29

I really like Chip. When I watch his show unfortunately I cannot stand all the hoo haaa by the young guy who thinks he is so cute and the ending where the people get "their" car and everybody cries. I have been unable to watch it all the way through ever yet.

But he is really talented and seems like a modest down to earth guy.

Possibly one of the best at design. Started with Boyd Cottingham? Who is now deceased. It is a television show.

He also appears to have a straight business in this field. Probably does some work for manufactures as well.

I actually like the show .. less all the pranks and stuff. I love most of his designs. Not over the top and very elegant. I have seen him on interviews and read various accounts of him. I agree that he seems to be modest and down to earth. Actually gets his hands dirty and knows his stuff.

There is a new one just being advertised. I think I saw Bob Villa in it. Not a car guy but I have not seen an episode yet. The gist of the promotions for the show. Indicate they restore 60s cars.

If it was not Villa it was someone that appeared in a lot of other types of shows. He puts two thumbs up at the end of the promo.

I think Foose is a little too full of himself. The 32 is just a matter of taste. Personally I like the 33 and 34 much better. Just my personal preference and I have no plan to convince anyone else that 33 and 34 are best. I also like the looks of a 55 Chevy much more than a 57, but again, nothing more than taste.

Actually it appears to be boyd coddington.

I agree with Larry on the 33/34 and on the 55 chebby. The grill is like many chebbys, Ferrariesque.

It’s about taste and opinion. I bought a coffee table car book ca. 1980. In their discussion of the most beautiful cars near the top of the list were the Maserati Ghibli and 1970 Camaro. Really? The person writing the book thought that his taste was the only one that counted.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Actually I am not sure if Chip said he loved the 32 more than other years, he just talked about why it is great.

I never knew the part about the 32 frame being treated as an aesthetic part of the car.

Chip's skill with the sharpie is very impressive!

By 33-34 it seemed the auto designers where going all out. The sales market was pathetic so they pushed harder for market share. Then to me after that they started to lose it. Or at least that is what it seems like to me.

I doubt any on site are old enough to have purchased new cars back then. A loaded car probably had a heater and a radio. Both where options. The headlight reflectors and bulbs where pretty sad. Most probably hardly remember the vacuum wiper blade systems.

It is not new to many. Yet when I went to change the three clocks to daylight saving time today in the wives car. The menu said daylight savings time. So I toggled it. The two digital clocks went to it instantly and the old style analogue one spun backwards to it. I thought they must have had a lot of meetings to put that one in the center of the dash.

It is pretty interesting to see options in the thirties and compare them to now. My Studebaker CE for example the spare in the fender, if left off was a $6 credit I believe. I don't know what a radio cost but they were fairly expensive and hence rare. The clock in the glove box door was optional too.
