I hate Motor Trend
Has anyone seen the BMW vs. Mercedes shootout in Motor Trend. It compares the ML55 with the 4.6 is, the Clk55 cab with the M3 cab, the E55 and the M5, and finally the SLK 32 vs. the M roadster. Well I began reading the article, and sure enough, they chose the M roadster over the SLK. Then I thought well surely the ML55 will be the 4.6, but again Motor Trend picked BMW. I knew they would go with the M5 over the E55, because all they do is go on and on again about the M5. So I thought, maybe they will give the CLK a win. To my dismay, however, they gave BMW the sweep. It just makes me mad that they are totally in love with BMW. I doubt that they're tests are very unbiased; I would even go as far as to say that they pick the BMW's to win before they drive any of them. I would have liked to see the C32 against an M3 coupe or some sort of S-Class vs. 7 series showdown would have been welcomed. Let's see the S63 against a 760. All well, I guess in the end it doesn't really matter what Motor Trend thinks, I just got mad after reading it and thought I would see what you all though.

I wonder who pays them more? But in all seriousness, I bet you the clincher in everyone of their reviews or tests like this, is the fact the BMW's can or do have a manual tranny.
Personally I think that most car mags don't see mercedes the way it should be seen. I have hardly ever seen a car magazine give favor to mercedes. Alon

Well, the simple truth is, Bimmers are more fun to drive than a Benz. I didn't say better, I said more fun. I have a 300SE and a 525iM (5 Speed). I love they way my Benz glides down the highway. It's got 275K on it and it drives and looks like new.
My Bimmer has 100K on it and it has an entirely different personality. It drives where the Benz glides. You feel as though you're driving a sports car rather than a bank vault. Most of these car mags are looking for performance. IMHO, the Bimmer delivers. Let me get my fire suit on...let the flames begin.

They also chose the Chevy Avalanche as the truck of the year. Have you seen one of those ugly things coming down the road at you?

I agree. They always pick BMW, but you cant always rate a car on how it performs on a high speed turn and how fun it is.
Hmmmm........again, lets see the BMW 15 years down the road and then do a test again with the same age showroom condition Mercedes! ![]()

Can anyone say "load shifting"? IMHO they're a lawsuit waiting to happen...not to mention potentially dangerous if used in the capacity they're advertised to be capable of doing... The Avalanche 2500 may be capable of towing a boat, but that's about all I'd use one for...and I'd still rather have my 18 year old F-250 for that. ![]() Not to mention that they're ugly as sin...and, apparently, GM's gonna introduce a C/K series pickup based on that look in another couple of years... *pukes* As far as car magazinres go, I don't even bother picking one up anymore...IMHO they give the best ratings to the highest bidder and don't pay attention to what's really best...when the '97 F-150 was new, they praised the "carlike" ride and handling...granted that, in a car, I like a car ride, but in a truck, I prefer it to feel like a truck. ![]() Just one truckin' redneck's opinion ![]()

I cannot believe the Avalanche ever made it into production, or even worse, the fact that people are buying them (or leasing, I seriously dought more than 5% of the people driving them have actually bought htem).
Lately, I have started to see the Cadillac version of it around, at least I am assuming it is a remarketed avalanche. And I have also seen Cadillac pickup trucks, what is the world coming to?

You guys are surprised that the Avalanche made it into production???
Who the hell turned the "on" switch at the plant when they started spitting out the Aztec??!!! It's amazing that there are some that will shell out hard-earned money and intentionally choose that vehicle to come home in, with all of the more attractive vehicle options available? ![]()
