So far it's worked out well for me, long ago (30 + years) my son brought home a Boxer puppy, I looked at the tiny dog with HUGE paws and thought this isn't going to work out and it didn't .

He was a great dog, gentle and loving, very protective of the yard but, he didn't like being alone all day long and he could jump up to the top of my 8' fence (!) and then scramble over and walk the 'hood terrorizing all other pets so I had to give him away .

He wasn't huge but he was a decent size and very muscular dog .

City folks should know that bigger dog need more space and I have a postage stamp back yard .
