He was hit by stray bullets; it may have been a random shooting.....

There is something seriously wrong when a beloved chinese food delivery man gets gunned down.......

This isn't the first time we've heard about food delivery people being assaulted or killed.

Wow. Strange story. Nutcases walk among us, sad but true.

Certainly not trying to blame Yang, who was present at the original incident with the likely killer but there might be a lesson here. When an angry ass demands a refund, might be best to give it to him and refuse all future service.

Just in general, I need to remind myself again to be careful when encountering an irrationally angry person. Stuff can sure go wrong.

A Popular SF Chronicle columnist died some years back. His name just popped into my head, Herb Caen. A well known quote from him, a humorous quote (sort of):

“Never interrupt a person having an argument with themselves.”

I concur on refunding the money. Be sure and have a sign posted that says "We reserve the right to refuse service for any reason". Still, it may have been random gun shots that killed him, still sad. IMHO, NYC is one of the most violent cities in America. IMHO, delivery drivers need to wear bullet proof vests and get some martial arts training......there are WAY too many crazies out on the streets......

The few real New Yorkers I've known tell me they had to learn martial arts just to live in that place.....one, in particular stands out. She had a black belt in some form of martial arts. She told me one time on a ride on the NYC subway, she had to use her martial arts skills to save her own life......

Post Violence

Whew ~ for once it wasn't Chicago, floriDUH nor Los Angeles, home of fruits, nuts and flakes .

Not only was this well liked man killed, his family now has to deal with the wrecked caused .

It's mother's day and as I was driving across town to see my Sweet, I was appalled by the random hostility shown by many drivers .

In my opinion, this world is getting more violent by the day. Best to stay home and watch all of it on the evening news.......

Thumbs down Living Scared

But that's exactly what those you fear so much want : you to give up and live in fear .

I'm not having any of that and no, I'm not a crazy who carries a firearm every where I go .

I am not a foe of everything ML says, but I agree, don’t want to let the asses win. Some thing I’ve been able to do now and then, and need to focus on always doing it, is to not respond angrily to anger, don’t escalate a fight. I honestly think that it’s a high calling to know how to be a peacemaker. I need to focus on that. I sometimes borderline flip out when someone honks long at me for some perceived petty transgression.

The horn is to be used to notify other drivers of danger. Not to communicate displeasure, though that is sometimes appropriate. Must be used carefully.

I'm no longer young and so am getting better at talking to those fake angry people .

We all have to get out of the house and run errands, go to the grocery, to the doctor, etc etc. Our lives are more at risk the moment we step out the front door of our apartment, condo or house. We are at less risk when we are sitting on the sofa watching the evening news. Any insurance man would concur; has nothing to do with being afraid of the big bad world or not.

Sometimes a royal jerk honks his horn loudly to alert the car in front of them the moment a traffic signal turns from red to green. They drive like their a** is on fire.....

I’m OK with the quick horn tap for the stop light thing. But I know what you mean, laying on the horn a long time jangles the nerves. Lot of bad manners in the world, unfortunately.

Sure, if the car in front has fallen asleep. That said, they can see cross traffic that YOU can't see; i.e. the psycho maniac traveling at mach 6 who is JUST ABOUT TO RUN THE RED LIGHT! If you are one of those who steps on the go pedal the SECOND the light turns green.....well....we might read about you in the newspaper......

Every now and then while first in line at a stoplight, I realized that I was not paying attention for the first five or 10 seconds after it turned green. As I take off I look behind me in the mirror, four or five people being held up, I’m thinking “geez people, tap your horn!”

On the way to my shop is a really long left turn signal. Really long. Not infrequently I would be 10th or 15th car in line, and the first car would be asleep. I would watch that stuff closely, often even though I was way in the back, I was the first person to blow my horn. I did not want to wait twice for that light.
