Devotion - The story of Ensign Jesse Brown

He was the first (may be second, depending upon who you listen to) black Navy pilot. Born 1926, died 1950, He was shot down in the N Korean war while flying his Corsair. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross posthumously. He also had a Frigat named after him...USS Jesse L Brown (FF-1089). According to the site above, the movies main points are pretty accurate. We just watched it on Paramount+. Good movie.

Nice read, thanks for posting.
Due to your post, I did a search on famous black people and black heroes. Lots of links dating back a few hundred years.

A group of us from the warbird museum got together and went to see it a few months ago. It not only was a wonderful movie and story, but the true life saga described at the end was wonderful.
We have a very nice Corsair in the museum. Like all the planes there, it gets flown regularly. That’s one I will never have the pleasure to fly. It’s a real handful.
