I have a hard time believing that the sale went through.

We had a '95 just like the one in the auction. I miss that car. It was really a pleasure to drive.

Same guy, on the same day, bought a 18k-Mile 2009 Jaguar XJ Super V8 Portfolio for $156K https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2009-jaguar-xj-super-v8-portfolio/. He's made some questionable buys https://bringatrailer.com/member/daddylongstick/

Maybe, as they have suggested at BAT, it's a way to clean money.

Don't know about the Jaguar but the seller of the E300 D has an almost god like status on BAT. He sells some of the best preserved low mileage 70/80/90's Benze's out there.

If so, curious how a scam like this would work.

No question, the seller is legit, I'm just wondering if the buyer really dropped over $300k in one day on two spectacularly well preserved but pretty ordinary cars. I guess it's possible.

Especially the Jag. I’ve always liked the look of that model series but I’ve heard horror stories about the many weak spots. My mechanic guru, owner of two 350SD models, owned a V12 sedan years ago. He said the front end was weak, and of course the electrics are a problem. I gather the V12 sounds great while it’s still running.

I saw a 6 cyl. XJ in a boneyard a few years back with absolutely cherry seats and only a few small marks on the body. There is no way in hell a Ferrari in that shape, of that vintage would be in a boneyard.
