Just noticed my "outie" belly button is a little more out and is slightly painful if I push on it. Last thing I need now is a surgery that puts me out of commission for 6 mos. I wonder if there is a brace or something to hold it in while I am working, lifting? Kind of don't want to go the DR and go down the road of multiple appts to be told what I already know. I think there must be a protocol with health care professionals in that they like to make a lot of referrals that ultimately lead nowhere. My wife has been chain referred several times to no resolution. Sorry for the rant but sometimes I feel the health care industry takes care of it's own.

It's regrettable that health care is not taught to the young. I'm sure my issues are a result of early age ( 2 to 18 ) of daytime farm labor with no shirt on plus diet and stress issues. One of my brothers died at 47 due to stress causing heart issues.

If people would implement the ' 7th day Adventist diet and lifestyle they would typically live a longer healthier life.

My dermatologist told me I literally had hundreds of spots above my belt line that were precancerous. Currently using an ointment that supposedly ' kills ' them plus typically results in top layer of skin peeling off.

So sorry to hear of your issues, Tex. Yes if we knew then what we know now. Life is a learning experience for sure.

I'm not overly bothered by my health issues...

I talk about it now and then to try to help people before they have similar issues or they have the same issue.

For example, the skin ointment if applied to sun damaged skin can actually ' kill ' a very high percentage of pre and possibly cancerous skin when they are very tiny. Anyone with a past history of high sun exposure should probably request it for treating their skin before it turns to something life threatening.

Will add more later, have to go out for dinner...

I have always worn a hat outdoors-even when overcast. Went to the dermatologist last year for an exam. She zapped a few spots. One on my ear lobe that has been an issue for many years. Pretty sensitive area-still painful. There is not much sun here but I protect myself anyway.

I will consider myself old when the time comes that I can no longer pass an FAA flight physical.

That's actually a really good metric.

I keep getting old due to strokes but then I bounce back. Then a heart attack but then I bounced back. But both issues involve a lot of medical intervention and rehab of the body.

I guess the day I don't recover will be the first step into the grave.

By the way... I had a aunt that continued to mow her own lawn, and it was a big lawn, with a push mower until she was 101. So you can get pretty old before you get old.

I think Chuck Yeager was still flying in his late 80's.
My dad saw him a few times at the Travis AFB Hospital.

There is a historic cemetery next door to the home we just bought. I can see graves from the 2nd floor. I'm in luck-they don't accept new residents.

Yikes. About 20 years back I was in an Orchard Supply Hardware outlet (before they went under) when one of my coworrkers walked in and said 'cmac, someone just hit your van in the parking lot.' He had driven up just as it happened and recognized my van.

The culprit was a gentlemanly looking chap who I found out was 94. For some reason, as he was backing out, he hit the gas hard and did an arc backwards that took him into two of the cars in the same row he had been in. Then he put it in drive and did it again, banged two vehicles at the other end of the arc. Mine was on of the four. I got $500 out of it and a nice new scar to wear around town.

I'm guessing he might have lost his license. Will come to all of us someday I guess.

Does the FAA flight physical process include a psychological and mental acuity evaluation?
