550e coupe

Took the ml350d in and traded it on a 2010 550e coupe.

Very interesting car with 381 hp v8 and a back seat which folds down like a wagon. It has a bit of growl and is amazingly fast. White with tan leather. Got it for a reasonable price and am loving it so far.

Disappointed it has what appear to be run flat tires.

Like this but white and with black interior..

..I also have a 427 Cobra replica with an aluminum chassis.

Congrats! I love my e550, also a 2010. Shockingly quick for their size and weight.

Also considered yo be one of the most bulletproof engines MB has made in the last couple decades (along with the 3.5 v6 variant).

Motor mounts are commonly collapsed at 100k, I had an issue with the starter (hot starts) and there is a somewhat common failure of the intake manifold flaps...new pierburg units are like $700. Other than that, dependable, powerful, fast, and reasonably economical for what it is (I get 26-27 highway on my 4matic).

Get rid of the runflats. Idk about the coupes but my sedan has a spare in the trunk, if you have the space you could probably find a junyard unit without too mucb trouble.

Sorry one more thing on mechanicals -- keep in mind the chassis has most in common with the w204 (not the w212) which may make findign parts easier. The front fascias and bodywork are all coupe specific since its quite a bit smaller than the w212.

The GLK is on the w204 chassis. I did not realize that was same as E550 but I had noticed the E550 is a little smaller than the 212.

Thanks guys!

The service guy at the dealer says he waits until the car asks for an oil change. What do you think about that?

The dash job should pop up at 10k or 1 year, whichever is first. I don't do 10k a year so it an annual 5k job for me. I don't see an issue with modern synthetics.

Also, not crazy about snake oils but liqui moly ceratec is very highly regarded in the m278s to prevent cylinder wall scoring. The m273 doesn't really have that issue but seems to run quieter (especially few secs at startup while pressure builds) after adding it.
