Oil Change on my ML

We bought a 2002 ML a few months ago and really don't put too many miles on it (we put most on my company car, free ) . We have about 1000 miles on it and according to Mercedes it doesn't need an oil change until 10000 miles, so when should we get the oil changed, every 3 months.....

The truck has free maintenance during the warranty period, the service is done when the FSS says it's due, and is tailored to how the truck is being used, it may be more or less than 10,000 miles. Most owners seem to be getting it done "on schedule", if you want it done way before FSS says it's due, it's at your expense. In general I would recommend keeping it in the FSS schedule until you are out of warranty, then do what you like after that. Remember this is 8 1/2 quarts of oil and it's synthetic, so it shouldn't be too hard to realize that the truck should be able to go significantly farther on an oil change than 3000 or 4000 miles, if that's what you have in mind. I would not consider running non-synthetic oil in this engine. I would say it may be a good idea to get it changed once a year, just in case you are really driving it low miles. Unsure if the dealer would be accomodating to this or not as far as the free maintenance plan.

I do between oil changes in out ML, it gets changed every 5K and it only drinks only Mobil 1. Same goes for the SLK32 but its first oil change has not happend yet. BTW you can do this yourself if you want to save some money.

Don't really know if my oil changes are free, since I get the A/B services performed at each interval...
