An '84 380SE should not break $6K in exemplary shape; let alone $12,500.

The 380SE is a pretty decent car, being a W126 chassis machine. Faster than a turbodiesel, very reliable engine for the most park. Some head-work will be needed around 200K to combat valve guide wear. Timing chains should be changed around 100K to avoid valve and piston contact.

There are many W126 resources on the board. Follow the same guidelines for any other W126 V-8 car, and you should be fine.
