Anyone ever had their car scratched up by vandals??

I could and am literally screaming so here I am venting...came home from work today to discover that someone decided to scratch up my nice 1992 midnight blue 300CE!! The scratches are on the doors/hood/roof/trunk lid.Quite a few of them but not too deep but the quantity is high.Even though my car is 10yrs old to me it is the equivalent of a $100,000.00 car.I left the car in the driveway and the vandal(s)decided to make it not as pretty anymore. They also got my next door neighbors honda accord.Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can use to remove the scratches as best as possible without removing the paint from other areas?A new paint job is very expensive so any suggestions are very helpful.
Thanks

Real sorry to hear of your trauma.

Our cars have also been vandalised though not to the extent you described.

However, there is this product: Autoglym's PAINT RENOVATOR that does some good to cracks and scratches in paint work. It has some aluminium particles and to a small degree dissolves and blends in the paintwork. It is recommended only for use on the area affected and not as a total car polish as its compunds are quite strong and does strip a little of the paintwork off.

I am not sure if other brands carry a similar product, but its worth a check.

Kerry, with that kind of damage, you might look into insurance coverage be it homeowners or auto. Could mean you get a brand new paintjob for the cost of your deductible. Worth a try *shrug*

Good luck, and I am sorry, there is just no excuse for such behaviour and Sapphire's such a pretty color!

Regards,
- Ryan

Wow, sorry to hear that for real. I remember once coming out of a new years party (maybe ten years ago) and everybodies tires were slashed. All four tires on maybe twenty cars. Talk about being bitter.

Well, it would be excellent IF the insurance agrees to pay for the paintwork ... ask, and thou shall receive (we hope)?

Really sorry to hear your coupe got butchered by some worthless punks.

If the damage cannot be buffed out, file a claim with your insurance carrier and get a respray.

Good luck!
