recommendation needed
Since we all have a Benz I was wondering if anyone could recommend some good books.
I'm primary intererested in the history of how they came to be and also their early autoracing domination. If you know of other books regarding Mercedes do post them also. thank you, Reny |

I recently saw a book on the history of MB racing at my local dealer. Check with your parts department, they probably have something good.

1/2 Price Books
Keep a lookout at your local 1/2price store, many books that talk about the history of automobiles, they cover all the manufs. There are some exclusive MB books as well, see them there often.
Bought one there last year, general auto book has some makes/models I never knew were being made. There is a book from the 90s: 110 years of MB looks pretty good for the form factor and the money. They sell overstocks (new) and used books. Just like Amazon but here you can look at the book before getting it. Enjoy Last edited by Diesel-Lover; 12-20-2002 at 03:49 PM. |

well i did some looking on the net and found the following
Mercedes in Motorsports - Alan Henry Mercedes Benz Grand Prix Racing 1934-1955 - George Monkhouse Speed was my life - Alfred Neubauer (MBenz's first racing manager...sort of like Norbert Haug today) I collect diecast models in 1/18th scale and have numerous modern day Benz both race and non-race cars. I'm looking into to getting some of the older stuff from the original "Silver Arrows" days and was curious about the history of the cars and the men behind it all. As I find more stuff...I'll keep this post going. In the meantime this was a cool link click here here is the models I hope to add to my collection click here the models cost between $120-140 so I wanted to know the history before I bought them ;-) -Reny to all a very Merry Mercedes Benz Christmas and New Year |

That race car hauler is neat. custom built one of three models if I recall correctly. I think it is also mentioned on the official mb website. My kids always play the games on there, once in a while I will get dragged over to see some neat thing, the car carrier was one I believe.
There are a lot of larger models from maiesto (sp) these days, I have tried to buy them as display/collection models, but usually in about three months I am throwing out hoods, doors, tires and the whole thing! My kid likes to play with em, and he does so roughly, and now my dog also gets in the act by batting the cars around and dropping them while standing! I should have never showed my kid how to use the screwdriver to take the model off the display platform but ohwell. Great hobby. Post some pics of your fleet, it would be neat to see. Do you frequent the Euro sites, may be able to get some models there that are not available here. Good Hunting & Best Wishes for the Season and the Coming Year.
