Help on Sony Playstation 2!!!

Have a year old Playstation 2. It will still play DVDs but when it tries to load a game it says "disc read error". All the setup setting are correct and it actually took a while to do it on all our games. I took the cover off and cleaned the lens to no avail. Any ideas? Santa's leaving some new games later tonight!!!
