Process of Changing your Name
{in edit} Read the post below mine first; it'll make more sense...my post came up on top due to a glitch in the system.
Actually, I've been wondering that myself...no offense meant to my dad, but I hate my first name so much that I've used my middle name for everything but where a full legal name is required (my first name doesn't even appear on my driver's license!), for my entire life. I can count on one hand the number of people who know what my first name is. I was once told that I should wait until I finish at school to do a name change, and that (and not knowing the procedure) is the only reason that I haven't done it.

Process of Changing your Name
Hi.. I figure this is the best place to find info on this topic. I believe I read somewhere here that a member did that(legally changing name) and I was wondering about how one goes about doing so. What kind of paper work, info, money involved, etc is needed to change your name? Thank you

Contact the civil courts in your county of residence. They'll have all the details

This reminds me have you guys heard of the lawsuit pending in California? A guy who changed his name to: Jackass a few years back is suing Jackass (the movie) for defamation of character..(Go figure) and something else. I heard it on the radio the other day and thought I was going to wreck! According to Jackass (the guy) he changed his name to raise awareness against drunk driving. Yeah, I haven't figured that one out yet either..

I too don't know the process of going on about changing my name. Infact, I would like to change my first, middle and last name. Also, I am not changing it to a celebrity's name or to "jackass". I just hate my name and would like to break away from my father's side of the family. This has been something I was wondering about about for several years.
