There is a GOD

Elisabeth Smart is found against all odds.

This is surely a sign of devine intervention.

News like that brings smiles for miles, what a day.

i too am glad that ES was found, however:

i thought the photo that was shown on the news was "inapropriate", and found it offensive to my taste!

Since "devine" is spelled "divine", are we talking about the star of the John Walter's films (very large transvestite)? There may actually be some link between this movie star and the woman who spotted Elizabeth Smart!

But seriously, however she may look, she certainly did the right thing.

Jeff, Clearly there was no ' divine' intervention in my spelling... I just copied DL's spelling....

I suggest " Divine nonintervention " " Divine Neglect " " Divine Sleeping" " Divine does not want to get involved " " Divine French " " Divine turn the other cheek "......

It is the news media which labeled this a Divine Incident instead of good police/media/helpful alert citizens Event.

RickG, Your statement , if you look at the bigger picture , could have been directed at Diesel Lover if you had spent your life watching " true believers" trying to impose their beliefs on you and your actions....

You choose to look at only this thread,,,, and I assume that your statement was directed towards the reaction of those who can see the falacy of putting " girl found" and " there is a GOD" as a causal relationship.

Clearly ignoring the first part of the story, the abduction, and the fate of the majority of the young women which are abducted by strangers...

So I say to ' true belivers' who take every spurious opportunity to claim evidence of Divine anything ...... Give it a break !

Just 2 cents.

While it is not appropriate to have an individual try to impose their standards and beliefs on a group, neither is it appropriate to belittle that individuals right to have those beliefs. I do not necessarily agree with DL about divine intervention in this case, but he does have a right to his interpretation, and the polite expression of this interpretation on the forum, IMHO.

TXBill, don't jump on homie diesel lover like that that's not nice. He's just super happy to see she's alive, as we all are.

Shoot, people, don't be mean. I said too "there is a God!" yesterday when I approached that one gal and she didnt run away but gave me her #

It is also being reported that the man arrested for abducting the girl considers himself " a prophet ".

JCE, with reference to your statement "neither is it appropriate to belittle that individuals right to have those beliefs. I do not necessarily agree with DL about divine intervention in this case, but he does have a right to his interpretation, and the polite expression of this interpretation on the forum, IMHO."

I did not belittle that individuals right to have those beliefs....

Only the posting of an illogical emotionally driven statement which is totally lacking in evidentiary support on a 'public' forum. There is nothing wrong with pointing out those kind of attributes when an idea like that is proffered as a causal relationship to an event.

Your complaint might also apply to such things as the scientific examination of such things as " the shroud of Turin"...because of the possibility of showing that people had falsely believed it was associated with the time of Jesus.

I don't see how this is any different than when one of our forum members "came out" some months ago, and made a rather lenghtly post about it. Not one person slammed him, or belittled him for it. Not one mention was made how he was "forcing" his lifestyle on us. Everyone patted him on the back basically. But let someone make a mention of their "lifestyle", I.E. God, and hooboy, is he out of line!
And people that go to church are called hypocrits. Something wrong with this picture.
I've so far never been flamed on this forum. I've always just made an effort to "get along" as we all should. But what the hell. Let it rip!
