Hey dude,

You have the same setup I do - Euros with the clear/orange corners. Sweet! I also sport the old panels beneath the lights that have the wiper grommets in them...it really bugged me at first, but I kinda like the look of them now...lol.

Where are you off surfing? Don't you live around Hatteras or VA Beach? I'm heading down in a month and a half...can't wait!!!

zues,

Hows it going my man,

I'm gonna change those little panels when my new bumper gets in. I'm gonna take them to the body shop with the bumper to get them painted at the same time. I'm living in Socal for about a year or so, doing something different. But you have a good memory my home is Wrightsville Bch, NC. I just got out of the water at Cardiff Reef it was small but fun...Have a great day!

Ohh yeah, and post a pic of yours here too ..I would like to see it!!

Howdy,

I have a 201 bodied 190D and am going to put a bike rack on it, but I wondered if that would interfere with the sunroof "enjoyment factor". I'm quite fond of opening the top and seeing the blue sky.

How's your rack work with our sunroof (if you've got one)?

Sholin

p.s Car looks great.

p.p.s. There's a '72 220D in Dallas that doesn't have a sunroof. I could buy that just to put the bike rack on top

Never can have enough MB's.

73MB280SEL,

The Thule Racks will not interfere with the sunroof or its operation however you may need to buy a fairing to cut-down the wind noise, or do as I do and remove it when your done. Good luck!

Thanks for the info,

I've never owned Thule but have a Yakima on my Toyota that will be retired once I fix a few items on the 190D. I'll look into Thule; Several people here have recommended it over Yakima.

What type of lights are those? Bosch, Depo, etc... I've heard that Depo are OK in quality but Bosch is best.

Thanks,

Sholin

They are Depo, I was extremely impressed with the quality of these lights alot moreso than I thought I was going to be for the price I paid for them. The lighting at night is an incredible difference. I can't believe I waited this long.

I've been looking at this upgrade myself. I own an '84 190D with the plain square lights. These just don't light up a dark road well enough. I've got to do brakes first though.

Brandon,

The lights look great on your car! I still prefer the look of the old grill over the new one that's on my '95. Not enough chrome on the newer grills.

Sholin,

I have a Thule roof rack which I'll be putting on my 16 valve to use until I sell the car (or not, since I love it so much!). I used it before on my 93 Maxima for a couple years and was happy with it. I would definately opt for the wind deflector to ease the noise. Plus it looks cool.

Also make sure to at least get the lock option that locks your front fork to the rack so the bike doesn't get stolen off it while you're in a store or something. You can, as I did, also get four additional locks to lock the rack to the car. A friend of mine once had her bike stolen by the thief merely taking the rack, along with the bike, OFF THE CAR!!

Hope this helps.

sflori,

I have a really old Yakima on a Toyota Corolla that was my daily driver. I think I'm going to transfer it over today to see if it fits and I like it. If this seems to work with the sunroof, I'm going to order another one (Thule probably or maybe Yakima Steelhead series).

My Yakima has locks for the towers and bike but the bike "channels" that hold the bike tire and front fork unbolts from the rails with thumbscrews--completely defeating the purpose of locking it. DOHHH

I've never had a bike stolen or messed with while on the rack, but I usually won't leave it on the rack if I go shopping or something.

Sure wished MB would bring a C class wagon with the 2.2L CDI engine in it too the US for approx $25K. Of course, I wished I was Steven Tyler married to Christina Aguillera also, so I'm a big dreamer.

(OK, so that's not a good example.)

Sholin

brandon,

where'd you get the depo's? i am starting to collect the euro conversion threads - maybe for this spring. did you put those grommets on and if so where'd you get em. i think i'm gonna dispense with the wipers altogether - it's a cleaner look to me...

Js,

I got my Euro's at www.importvision.com . They are great quality, I highly recommend them. I am not sure what you mean by grammets unless your refering to the 6-pin connectors you'll need which are very easy to install. Do a search on depo and Barrie and I'm sure you'll find the info needed ...thats what I did. In the meantime I'll keep searching my comp. to see if I can find were I saved the info. I definitely agree with everyone else now that this is the best uprgrade I have done yet.

the grommets are the caps over holes in the little panel where the wipers are in some models...
