Dr CJ is here!

This is an innocent problem that affects most people at some time in their lives. If someone becomes aware of a twitching below the eye it's usually when they are worried about something or have something on their mind. It's extremely common when someone is under pressure or being stressed by something, by his or her work for example. When this is the case it's important to find out what the real problem is and to get it sorted out. It might be that you are not happy in your current job or have a problem with your relationship. As far as the twitch is concerned the best thing to do is to try and ignore it and it will go away. The problem is that worrying about it only makes it worse so you become trapped in a vicious cycle. It is not caused by using your computer but you may find that the twitching become worse if you are under stress whilst working at your computer, if you have too much work or deadlines to meet. To avoid possible computer-related problems in the future don't sit in front of the screen for more than twenty minutes without taking a break; have your eyes tested regularly by a good optician; and make sure the screen isn't too bright. A good healthy dose of hypo-allegenic TLJ should cure the twitch.

Also, besides eye strain and stress, there are a few other causes, especially as one ages. My eye doctor is top notch - when I developed an eye twitch, he requested that my family doctor perform a thyroid screen exam series. The thyroid tested abnormal several times, and the use of a minimal dosage of thyroid medication has cut back on the problem substantially. It may be worth checking out the problem through both your eye doctor and your family doctor, especially if you are older.

My right eye starts to twitch when I stay up all night, working on papers at the last minute, supplanting sleep with caffeine laced energy drinks.

This is what I've found to be the root of my problem also.
Try getting an extra hour of sleep a night for awhile, a few days in a row anyways. I always feel alot better after getting some extra Z time.

I read the link that W126 posted. To me, it seems like what I may feel once in a while is a hemifacial spasm:
http://www.blepharospasm.org/blephar3.html#A1

Happens real real infrequently though, and just on one eye, I think it's my left (that's how infrequently it happens).

I wish Bush would develop an eye twitch. A little one. Just enough for Chirac to think " Mon Dieu! I think... I think he JUST may do it... look at this twitch... is he looking at the >> football<< case? Oui! he JUST. Could. DO IT!"

Try this!

Here is something strange, but don't laugh untim you try it. The cause may be some simple change in your diet and over all caloric intake.

Increase your calcium intake.
Lower your saturated fat intake by 50%
Offer to give your fatty deserts to others.
Vary your exercise routine to keep it exciting.
Eat four balanced meals a day, not including snacks.
Try driving a different way to work and look for new things.
Laugh out loud when things are happy, laughter is good.
Jealousy is flattery, so take pride and look your best!

This is not scientific, but it works, trust me. Oh yeah do not forget to have 8 glasses of water a day.
