Did you get your tax break?
This year I made 900 fewer bucks and paid $1800 less in taxes. That's a $2,700 swing no?

I don't know if I got that much of a tax break, but I did make out pretty good, considering.
Here's the short story: Last Nov I met my tax guy and we figured I'd owe about $12,000 on tax day (I pay annually). So I saved that much up. In getting ready for the appointment last Thursday, I opened the 1099 from Reuters. It wasn't a 1099, but a check for $2650 that I had merely put into my files three months prior without opening it-- assuming it was the 1099. After meeting him, my total bill to the Feds was $2200 and the state $700. I must have given him gross numbers last Nov, not taking into account that some of my regular clients take taxes out before sending me a check. So, I paid my taxes and still have basically $12,000 in my account that I thought I'd have to send to the Feds. Yeah, I still paid all that money, but it's nice to have saved $12,000 without needing to. Just that much closer to my OWN house. |

Wow! That's... pretty awesome! Always nice to have money you thought you never had!

Haven't done mine yet!
"I owe....I owe...so it's off to work I go!" Just delaying the inevitable...owed $4K last year...and things haven't changed much this year.
