Training vehicles for police officers. They learned to push the other guy of the road. For that reason the one car has the long rail on the left side, the other car on the right side

Here is the link to the story
Welcome to Ikonengold...

Kind regards
Eberhard

For all your defensive driving needs
Over here they just use "beaters" to practice those tactics with. Look like escapees from a junk yard.

Well, yes, that is real. This car is at the ATC (equivalent to Pats enterprise) and yes, they are going to scrap it.

That's live.

Kind regards
Eberhard

No, that is not me. The ATC (Altteilecenter) gets all the old testmules. It ist amazing, how many W 220 the desintegrate.

It used to be, that schools would get old test cars. A friend of mine has one of the first 240 D 3.0. Build in 1972 it started as a 200 D and got one of the first OM 617 in Versuch Untertürkheim.

Very interesting car. Had only 30 000 km on the clock when it was auctioned of at his school.

The funny thing is, when he asked Mercedes about the history of that car, they denied the engine swap and asked him to put the OM 615 back in again.

The car is a beauty, it also got leather interior and automatic transmission and many other items at Versuch

Kind regards
Eberhard

Hey Pat - it's all in how you define "half" when you end up cutting that car in half. Get a lawyer like Bill Clinton who will argue about the definition of "is", and you'll end up shaving off a piece of the bumper rub strip and pronounce "I have now sundered this car in halves as required".

Eberhard,

That 200D is a real beauty, I LOVE the blue and parchment combination. Its the same color combination as my 420sel.. .which is of course my favorite.

Wish I'd gone to one of those schools...

Eberhard,

What's the serial number of the 617? It should be a really low number.

This is the first time I see W115 headlight wipers outside of a book.

Sorry, don't have the number.

There is a W 115 with headlight wipers just in front of my house. Belongs to a friend of mine

Kind regards
