Bad driver hits me

ARGH! I was on my way home last evening about 4:30pm, I me going down a road and this guy pulls out from my left cutting it close and goes in the left lane and then to the right lane (my lane) as if he was making a farm turn. No signal. So I'm thinking this is a bad driver, my instincts are up. Go about a 1/4 mile where the intersection that I want to turn at is. I put my signal on and move to the right turn lane, he is in the lane I was in as if he is going straight. All of a sudden I see his car cutting me off - as I slam on the brakes and honk my horn and he keeps coming. He is tring to turn into a gas station on the corner - and does so by starting his turn in the next lane. I get out, start looking at my car an I'm like it looks like just the bumber is broken...no, the left turn signal, left fender scraped, and this is where I get mad, the hood has a tiny crack in it's paint on the corner. NOT HAPPY. The kid gets a ticket. I was bitting my lip and
hid my displeasure.

But it's just a waste of time now, as my body shop is 60miles away - cause I only use Glasurit paint.

What's funny is I guess I look old cause the kid (17) calls me sir. I'm only 21.

He had 2 other kids with him, and they said he looked. My car is proof he didn't.

All I can say is that If I hadn't been paying attention my whole front would have had it.

So, I hope this doesn't happen again like it has so many times with Alon.

Later,
Shaun

...if you followed your instincts even more you would have perhaps given this moving accident waiting to happen a least a block cushion between your cars...

I do give up space everyday- - to avoid the possibility of this type of accident....even though its inconvenient - - its even more inconvenient to get a car fixed....

good drivers prevent and avoid accidents

Fad,

A good driver avoids these kind of accidents - true. Well, my driving records are clear of tickets and collisions, I am a very defensive driver. I obey the law, and no one was in front of me...I was in the turn lane slowing down to yield and make my turn. He is the one who broke the law and who decided make a 90degree turn with no signal, no hints what so ever. I mean I have never seen someone in the middle lane turn in front of traffic in this manner. Anyway, I do not care for the assumption that I am not a defensive driver.

....too bad you read it that way (not a defensive driver)- no assumptions here: merely introducing another way to address this type of situation in the future

the suggestion is merely a different choice (a concept) for your consideration since you've now experienced this scenario and apparently regret the outcome

experience and common sense would dictate if a vehicle comes wrecklessly close to your vehicle- - it would follow to stay as far away as possible (as immediately as possible) for as long as possible in order to avoid any (-) outcomes

>>>and naturally nothing is life is guaranteed- this strategy simply increases the odds of a (=) outcome

this is a suggestion based upon close to 25 years driving experience: track, international, ralley, caravan, motorcycle sports

although you have not seen this before- I have and worse- - feel free to PM me if you'd like to discuss further

best regards
