I need your opinion....

A friend of mine offered me a pair of clear lens front turn signals for my 1991 420SEL.

He had bought them for his car, but then sold the car before he had a chance to install them.

I am considering installing them, to refresh the car's look. My 420SEL is a 1991 model, midnight blue, with Euro headlights.

On the other hand, I am a traditionalist and I still like the amber lights.

For you W126 owners (and those of you who don't own a W126 but have an opinion anyway) ...what do you think looks best? Amber lenses? Or clear lenses?

Also, do European W126's have clear or amber lenses?

I'd really appreciate your opinion.

As a bonus, for helping me out, if I chose to install the clear lenses, there will be a set of amber lenses on the market.

Thanks

I like the amber lenses myself. I guess I'm just very conservative.

I bought some clear corners for my dad's 230E and I thought they were awesome then. Last time I came back I traded them w/ the amber ones.

BTW, the Euro W126's came w/ amber lenses.

The W126 Euro lights really look great. I like them with the amber lens.

Spock...

...I've seen euro W140's with the clear lenses and they look very nice. The clear lenses give the cars a more modern look.

I might get them, install them and then take before and after pics. But I am feeling so lazy lately.

I like the clear corners, but the clear ones are more "white" than the actual clear of the headlight. I also like the dark "euro" corner lights... they are more orange than yellow.

I wonder if anyone tried to make a half clear/orange corner light? Sort of like on some w140's I have seen.

I think it depends on the model Benz they're on. I have euros with clear corners on my 16 valve and think they look great. They make the front of the car look more aggressive.

On the other hand, if it's a traditional look you're after and your car isn't made to look like an aggressive sports car, I'd stick with the amber.

Either way, the eruos have a better display of light on the road.

Here's a pic of my 16 valve with the euros and clear corners.

My 190E is going through side marker crisis identity. Started off with the stock US orange. Updated with clears. Then I spray smoked the clears to better match the body color. Now I have a set of euros with the Bosch euro orange sides. The euro Boschs are darker orange than the US versions and I am tempted to see how they look.

I think the clear looks more sleek. Just don't get tempted to go out and buy a huge wing to bolt on the trunk if you install them

That would be funny. Me, driving my 420SEL, grey hairs and all, with a big ass wing over the trunk. The image is so funny I just about fell out of my chair.

Thanks.
