The usual line from someone on the street is that their brother, sister, uncle etc. work at the factory and stole them.
Have said this, they can be decent cigars.

Actually, no. The factory stores carry ridiculous prices because that is where the tourists flock. The prices there are higher than the prices one will encounter in a cigar shop in say Canada. Street cigars are HIGHLY illegal in Cuba. My friend was there for a class, and the second day they were there, a memeber of the class was arrested for purchasing street cigars. The prof was a little upset. If you search around in the cigar shops, you will get deals. He purchased these from the Cigar shop in his hotel. He got them at a good price, because all of the people from the class went in and bought at the same time, thus they got a "group discount"
