Forklifts Toyota vs. Kalmar AC

Hi folks!

I have to buy a new forklift for the company. I need one quickly, and the choices that I have are Toyota, and Kalmar AC.

I was wondering if anybody has any experience with the two, and which one they prefer.

It would have a capacity of 5000 lb. with 3 stages, 15' lift, and 54"-60" forks.

I have heard of Toyota (the one we have now is a Toyota, and died a slow, horrible, agonizing death)
I don't know squat about Kalmar AC, except that supposedly Allis Chalmers bought them, and that's where the "AC" comes from.

Thanks!

The fuel type is Propane.

The Kalmar forklift uses a Nissan H20 II engine (48.5 HP)

Howdy Larry,
One of our forklifts is a Toyota. Nice machine. The lead maintenance person at our other airport Used a 30 ton Kalmar. Best machine he ever used. Kalmar is known for being the best heavy forklifts around. Should be no difference with Kalmar AC. Can'tgo wrong with either. But I would try to get the Kalmar.

I used to sell forklifts. In the industry, Toyota is definately known as the leader. The Toyota forklift you are looking at, I assume it is new, is called a "7 Series" It has advances that no other manufacturer has. They are to name a few. anti roll over devices integrated into the truck that keep the truck stable while lifting/ lowering and driving. ( This computer device increases the speed at which you can handle product up to 20%) Automatic fork leveling. Comfort, ergonomic design, safety, the best engine in the industry(many other Japanese manufacturers use the Toyota engine) And it is built right here in the US of A. (Columbus Indiana)
It will cost more and it is worth it. Take advantage of the Toyota credit offered because it is a good deal too. Good luck! Barry
