Question about 400SEL..
There is a young lady from my town that attends the local college. She drives a white 400SEL and commutes at about the same time I do. Was 1992 the only year the 400 was built? Reason I ask is that it's the only one I've ever seen and I don't think she would be a good source of information.

I think it was only 93. There was only a SWB 400SE in 92.

MBUSA.com states in their 15 year overview that the SEL was introduced as the 400 in 92 but renamed as SEL420 in 93. But if memory serves me I believe I have seen ads for some 93's also.

The letter prefix came in 94 with the S420.

The latest issue of the British magazine, Mercedes Enthusiast, has an excellent article on the entire line. I don't have the magazine with me right now, so I can't look up the car for you though.
Hey! I'm only nine posts away from 1,000. Do I get a prize??
