tHIS car BMW 528 i , 1988, GERMAN MADE, VIN: WBADD61080BR43701, Triptonic Transmision, doesn't start.

My cousin BMW car has a problem. We can on the key switch. The indicating shift light on the panel board is always on indicating "D", shift from Park to Neutral, R, D, 1, 2 etc. but the indicating shift light is always on in "D".

We try to start the engine with the Key switch, shift in PARK or NEUTRAL, but we dont have electrical contact with the starter, and the shift lihgt is always on in "D".

Shift lever isn't attached to tranny anymore, or the safetly switch is broken and doesn't move with the tranny lever. Nothing else is wrong with the car, it won't start in gear.

MR PSFRED

Thanks Sir.

I'm sorry, the car year is 1998.

I think you have reason. I will check the switchs and tranny lever.

Thanks

Mario Farias
