trade-in value guide
For a particular car, kbb.com provides a trade-in value of $4800 and edmunds.com says $5600. That's a heck of a spread. Which guide do car dealerships usually use - one of these or something else? nadaguides.com doesn't provide a trade-in value as far as I can see.

I hate KBB. They list my car for 1200, which is an abomination. NADA listed my car last year for from 3.5k to 7.5k, and on the antiques circut anywhere from 9k to 17k.
I also did the math, and in 2002 dollars my 47k(1983 dollars) benz is worth 82k.

Dealers can be such a pain in the rear at times.... I was about to trade in my 400SE for a very mint E500 w/7600 KM on clock..... Dealer was only willing to give me $5000 even though I pointed out that they have an identical 400SE(same mileage, same condition, exact same options, but in Black/Black) which dealer is asking $21,000!!! Assume that they would spend 4K on "recondition" my car, that's still $12K profit!?!? Blah, no thnx.......Needless to say, the deal felt through..... Guess I will hang onto my 400SE for a while....
