Not fair

In Ontario, we are required to have both gov't plates, rear and front, so even if I get one, I can't put it on cause I'll get a ticket :(

Well, I used my Euro plate to mount my Texas plate. Texas is a two plate state as well.

Eberhard Weilke

Eberhard...

Just out of curiosity, Do you vacation in Florida during the winter?
I believe that my parents purchased a 1993 w124 turbo diesel in Florida from an individual named Eberhard Weilke.

Very unlikely. I have never been to Florida (nor have I ever traded any cars in the US)

I really would be interested in meeting a person with my name...

Kind regards
Eberhard

same here, but I want to get one. The ticket is a 10 dollar fix-it ticket (all you have to do is put the state plate back on, get the ticket signed by a cop, and pay 10 bucks).

hello
my family has hosted many exchange students over the years. one of them was a german girl from bonn. she told me that the first letters are the local city and the second can be your name, or random. when i went to visit her in bonn all of the local plates started bn, in stuttgart they started st (i had to see the factory) and berlin bl, so i had mine made by bavarian auto sport (a bmw stuff supplier) to read buffalo. her parents had made me one to read op jc230, but when i went to register it in ny i could not because they (dot) said it could be read "official police" so i went with buffalo.
i hope this helps, dont know if its 100% accurate, but its what i saw and heard.
jake

I might be confused, but I thought BMW stands for Bavarian Motor Works...

Well.. you are correct that the first letters are for the city, but Berlin is 'B' and Stuttgart is just 'S'. There are complete lists posted many places on the internet. BTW the plate looks great on your car! :D

Also does anyone know where to buy a plate frame from an M-B dealer in Germany... or at least fakes or replicas?
