No more MB diesels to US ??

I went to MBUSA site and did not see any diesel models. I did find diesels on other countries MB web sites. Anyone can tell me why that is? Or am I msissing something or I was in coma.

I heard the E320cdi as early as spring 04 and the S400cdi in 05. The S400 is supposed to be on the wrong side of $100K.

Snibble, that will make you VERY unpopular around here quickly! ---Oh, wait, you already are...nevermind. :p

We might be "low-powered" and smelly (that's a matter of opinion), but we'll still be chugging down the road YEARS later, when you're shopping for your 3rd gasser!

Snibble, my Diesel will stomp all over your S class. Once I've left you in a cloud of smoke, you'll notice that it smells really good and you're getting hungry. The 15% biodiesel mix I run makes the exhaust smell like steaks on the barbecue.

1999 was the last year Diesel powered cars were sold here by Mercedes. The E320CDI was due to return last month, but they've been delayed. Supposedly in the spring now.

Don't forget Sprinters. They're still MB's even with a Dodge or Freightliner badge.

U.S. diesel fuel has a high sulphur content, and many of the newer CDI configurations won't run well with the crappy fuel offerings we have here.

I suppose that's why we don't hear of diesel-powered product offerings much in the U.S.
