Anyone do a stealth/integrated install with a V1?
Hey guys,
My parents own an 2003 E500 and I want to get a V1 installed in their car because they are moving to Virginia. Does anyone have any experience with this as in pricing or any good DIY links (not that I would attempt something this hard on a car like an E500). Any advice is appreciated, thanks! |

yeah... my bro knows a guy that can put the display behind the rear view mirror, so when you turn it on, you can see the display, but when you turn it off it looks like a regular mirror. It's called InV1siMirror.

Thanks for the fast response guys!
I have heard of the invimirror thing and I think I might get that. How much do you think it would run to have Mercedes (100 bucks per labor hour) install the mirror and conceal the V1? The overall goal is to have no wires anywhere visible. Anyone have pics of this in their cars? How do you run the wire from the main Valentine unit to the mirror in an E500? I read something on these forums about tapping into an aux. fusebox on the drivers side to hardwire detectors. |

usually the mirror has power if it's auto dimming, or you can tap power from a nearby interior light. My bro worked for the guy for a while doing these, I'll ask him to throw up a post sometime tonight.

Oh, what is it you dont like about radar detector? Or is it just that this system is bad? I wanna get one too, but only the jammer is illegal here. I'm not so sure if this is the best one available.

The problem is that they already have the V1...so I just want to see if they could put it to good use even in Virginia.
I know it is illegal but so is speeding in general, so how is this any worse? My parents are hardly die hard street racers that go 100+ on the freeway. They just fear rising insurance costs if they aren't paying attention. Surely you Mercedes guys can understand how the speeds creep up in your quiet cars. I come from an M3 which is by no means quiet and never lets you forget that you're drviving unlike the E500-quiet as a tomb.

As a side note AustinCE...dont' get a radar jammer...not only are they illegal, but they don't really work. Those Rocky Mountain ones in particular are garbage.
The problem is that a jammer is an active device...so everyone will know that you are using one. A detector can slide by a lot more easily. Laser Jammers are a different story. They are incredibly effective, but not many cops use laser. They are perfectly legal too. Go read about stuff on www.radartest.com. The guy who writes it supposedly made a career of bad mouthing Valentine...so take it all with a grain of salt. There is good info there. |
