Networking help

I know there are forums dedicated to windows users, but they seem to speak some foreign tongue, and I do not. So hopefully some of you good people will have a bit of cross-experience that can help me out.

I have 2 computers and a laptop in my home. Both PCs are windows machines, one xp home and one 2000pro. (for work and home use, respectively) the laptop is old-ish but runs 2000pro.

I want to set up a wireless network in my home. This is the easy part. I also want to have the capability to share the work computer via a Virtual Private Network (VPN). This is because a guy in NYC needs access to our small biz database on this computer.

I have no idea how to begin to do this last part, or what hardware/software I'll need. Everything I've found looking around assumes that I already know how to do it. When looking at a wireless router, some are called VPN routers, some are not, but list 'multiple VPN passthrough' on their features, and some don't say a thing about VPN...

Thanks for your help!!
Kevin

All you need is a is 2 Linksys VPN routers or a 1 VPN Router and SSH Sentinel. Do a google search or check the Linksys Knowledge base and read up on it. It fairly easy once you educate yourself first.

Window XP Pro also has some VPN capabilities but I have not heard many good things about it.

For a very easy solution and much faster check out www.gotomypc.com .

Search VPN on this forum and like most other things on this forum some very smart people have addressed the subject.

what about a Mac?

Thanks- the gotomypc thing looks interesting too.

One person who I'd like to be able to connect is using a new Mac laptop. will this be possible with either option?

thanks again,
Kevin
