Gun Control
I searched and saw nothing recent on this issue. What is this boards take on the soon to expire assult weapons ban, or even gun control in general? I will let comments be made before I express my opinion

It will be renewed. The current administration won't risk not renewing it, especially in an election year. That said, and not surprisingly, it certainly has not had even a nudge of its intended impact. Why all of its supporters think that laws will have any impact on illegal behavior will always be beyond me. I have a number of firearms, but only one that may ever be at any kind of risk. I would hate to be forced to give it up.

I still have hope that it will not be renewed. The ban is quite ridiculous. To those not in the know, their definitions are ridiculous. First and foremost, assult weapons are not the horrible vices the media and the leftists love to protray. In armed crime, assult weapons are used less than 1% of the time. The real problem are stolen, unregistered handguns criminals get off the streets. All the ban does is keep good firearms out of the hands of law abiding citizens. Here is an example of how ridiculous the ban is:
This gun, an AR-15 is classified as an assult weapon. To meet such a classification, it is only allowed one accessory. This one has a pistol grip, flash supressor, and a bayonet mount, therefore making it "evil" Here is another AR-15, that is not considered an assult weapon. It only has the pistol grip, therefore is OK for American consumers. The AR-15 is one of the most popular rifles to use in competitive shooting, and the ban just makes it harder to obtain one. The liberal media loves to make it seem like without such a ban, the streets will flood with AKs and Uzis. Those 2 weapons are often the ones pictured, or shown by the politians. This is funny, because they were banned in 1989, with an importation law, which is still in effect. Guns aren't the problem, irresponsible people are. Why should those that are responsible be punished? |

Diane Feinstein is one of the most anti-gun politicians around. This to me is quite entertaining. Here is a picture of her at a news conference, holding an "evil" gun:
During this conference she swept the crowd with the gun. Notice that the magazine is in place and her finger is on the trigger. If I was present, I would have been ducking and covering. Responsible gun posession is a must. "Banning guns addresses a fundamental right of all Americans to feel safe." Is a statement she made in 1993. "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an out right ban, picking up every one of them... "Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in, I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren't here." Another statement she made, this time in 1995. I find these statements incredibly entertaining, seeing as how Diane Feinstien has a concealed carry permit, and carries a .38 Smith & Wesson in her purse. Guns must be evil for everyone but the polititians, and their croonies. I, believe it or not, used to be anti-gun. I do not own a firearm, nor do I ever plan on owning a firearm. Upon looking into the debate, I became so frustrated with the misleadings of the anti-gun movement, I became pro-gun "Those who would sacrifice essential liberties for a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Benjamin Franklin Last edited by TTaM; 02-14-2004 at 01:46 PM. |

But, seriously, the bear silhouette truly was a bad show...for the record, that was done off-hand at 25 yards with my .50cal blackpowder underhammer target pistol...oh, and BTW, the wind was at my back and blowing about 15-20mph too. Mike Tangas, doncha just LOV cuttin' the center out of "Big Blue" with a box of 9mm or .357?

For those who haven't seen that picture before, it is 24 rounds. 12 fired in 20 seconds at the 7 yard line and 12 fired in 20 seconds from the 15 yard line. Oh yea, you start with the weapon holstered. Now to get my 50 group down to this size.
