Maybe because the motorcyclist chose to try out the jump and knew the consequences of his risk.

Everyone here has probably stolen something petty in their lives, in which the value exceeded the stolen wood in thi video. Everyone. The difference between you doing and these guys is that you probably had the money to buy it. Do you think the army should send tanks and armed soldiers to blow up your car? Do you know how demoralizing, embarrassing, and costly that is?

To address your amazment on why I defend soldiers, for one thing I think that tape was taken out of context if that were shown on it's own those troops would have some serious explaining to do. I have been there done that many things that are done at a time of war maybe questionable to a window shopper like yourself, but in reality when you splice the rest of the tape together make perfect sense.

A couple minutes of tape with a voice-over for context.

What were the tanker's orders?

Assuming the voice-over is correct, how do we know the guy who said he's a cabby, was? If a cabby, how do we know he wasn't stealing stuff, too?

Were they previously warned? No? How do we know?

If the deal was exactly as shown then its a violation of the Geneva Conventions concerning an occupying power and law enforcement. Were these soldier's charged? With what or why not?

Was the caby compensated later? I have seen film of GI's compensating Iraq's with claims out of piles of cash.

Its awful easy to get a lot of speculation from a few minutes of tape. Do you think the "whole truth and nothing but the truth" is encapsulated there?

Asuming the guys acted outside of their orders then the UCMJ has a beef with them. If they acted within orders then the beef is with their boss.

Whatever the case, dang! I sure wish I could crunch an SUV every now and then. I'd let the cabby go and look for an Expedition or Navigator.

That could easily be the case. Maybe the wood-looters put up a fight prior to the scene we see on the film clip. Who knows?

But what you DO see on the film is, that the soldiers have the situation under control. And at this point there's absolutely no need for this childish display of power.

What if that cabby decides to bomb the cr@p out of some US installation down there because all americans are now his personal enemys, after they flattened his car?

It's stupid to make enemys if you don't have to..

How do we know that was plain wood on the junker (which I have reliable info was stolen) and not something else?? It could have been WMD (Wood of Mass Destruction).

The car in the center was suspected to have stolen air in one of the tires. These people will never learn.

Hmm

Am I the only one who finds this hilarious?

If you don't have enough respect for your own people and your own neighborhood, and instead not steal, but LOOT after misfortune or violence happens to your neighbors. You need to be taught a lesson. If a hurrican occurs, and I go fishing through my neighbors house for anything, I dont deserve any sort of sympathy. Good. You loot, and your car gets crushed. At least they don't get their hands cut off, right?

Kyle.. you probably find it funny because you're not in their situation and because of age. I would have thought this was funny as well a few years ago. This video was shot as late as May(when I first saw this video). You don;t know what these people are/were going through... no jobs, no money no nothing... looking for anything to make their lives somewhat livable. If those guys were stealing say money, jewlery, robbing someone... then thats a different story. But for scrap wood... thats too much.

I thought it was pretty dang funny too. Especially the part where the black soldier is scolding them for the child not being in school! "That's where he need to be, not out here following you".
