Alfa is coming back some time between 2005 and 2007, according to officials. So, what do you guys think?

Last January, I drove a brand new 3 door Alfa Romeo 147 1.6 Twin Spark, 5-spd for a month all across South Africa, and loved it. Looks great, and had the best steering I have ever felt in any car. The handling on switchback mountain roads was impeccable. With more grunt from the 2.0l version, it would be an ideal car for the States.

I have always loved Alfas, even the big sedans like the 164. Would still drive one today if I had the extra cash.

I can't wait but I'm also not getting too excited since they have pushed back the date so many times. I rented a 155 two summers ago when I was in Greece and I really liked it. I'm a big fan of the Alfa styling. My first car was a '78 GTV.

i'm calling schwab right now and moving my entire stock portfolio into italian automotive electrical repair companies!

And what about the 250hp 3.2 then?

LOL Though I loved our Alfa 164L, this is so true! We had our car at the Alfa specialist so many times its unreal. The funny thing is that one of the guys that worked there had a Ferrari 308. Granted its an older Ferrari, but I thought "Only an Alfa repair technician gets so much business doing repairs that he can afford a Ferrari."

But if they come back, and prove themselves, its definitly a car I would consider. I think they will return upon the release of the new Spider...

is Pininfarina involved in the design? if no, then I do not even want to look at it.

You don't like the Giugiaro designed cars?

The 6-cyl. 147 GTA would be to die for.

Regarding reliability, I must say, we drove the 147 over all kinds of roads, dirt included, in about 113 degree F weather occasionally, climbed up and down rutted roads, plus drove at very high speeds on the the main roads, and the car never hiccupped once.

My impression is that the reliabilty and quality of the modern Alfas is at least on par with industry norms, if not appliance-like such as most Japanese cars.

I have always liked the Milano, the 164, but the newer 156 and 147 seem to be much better as far as reliability.
