What do you see?

As an American, I can't help but root for the big three in some way. They have produced some nicely realized vehicles over the years (original taurus, previous generation GM full size pick-ups, F150's etc) and of course the classics. But of course today they lag behind on all fronts.

I generally like all cars. All cars are good in some way. But plagerism is something I struggle with.

Here is the new Ford Five-Hundred. What do you see?

To me, the front end looks like a Caddy, the passenger compartment area and wheels looks like an Audi, and the rear end looks like a W211. But that's just from that pic; I haven't seen any other pictures of it...

Looks Jetta/Audi-ish to me.

Would be nice if the model nomenclature would take on MB-like meaning...

...so the Ford 500 would designate a 5.0L!

At least they had the foresight to take "Galaxie" out of the name! :p

From the above referenced link:

Working in concert with an improved Duratec engine which benefits from electronic throttle control technology, Five Hundred’s advanced powertrain system delivers a smart combination of a smooth Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) or 6-speed automatic transmission and an efficient 3.0L V6 engine to optimize both performance and fuel economy*. The CVT gives you the power you need exactly when you need it. Couple that with available all-wheel drive and it becomes clear how Five Hundred is a joy to drive.

Blah!

Even SOUNDS like a 60's ad for a Ford...Galaxie!

And my brother-in-law procured a fine example of one from the estate of a deceased woman...

A cross between a Nissan Maxima, Audi A8L, VW Jetta, and the rear lights of a Mercedes 211 E.
