Know any good techno music artists ?
Hey guys,
I figured that this would be as good a place as any to ask this... I have always liked electronic music, and have a few techno songs in my collection, but am debating digging up some more. Techno doesnt really make it on the radio much (if at all), and I cant find a "techno top 40" chart anywhere (while I'm sure there is one...) The techno section of the music store a LOT of choices, but none of those names really click with me..I'd be taking a chance on any of them. House is okay, Trance is okay, but the dance/techno/electronica(?) Is (I think) where my interests lie. Any favorites ? artists/DJ's to find or stay away from ? TIA, -John

I like 'ambient' techno, stuff that has melody i guess, not just the sound of someone banging on a trash-can.
LFO and Underworld are two of my favourites, esp. for the car, Aphex Twin for more weirdness ![]()

Hmm
Kraftwerk...classic...
get the song "Satisfaction" by Benny Benassi..all his stuff rocks Andrea Doria is a good artist The Prodigy is awesome.. Definitely get some Crystal Method (Born Too Slow is an Awesome "rally" song) Kraftwerk, all there stuff is very almost numbing and relaxing... Can't forget Louie Devito for more club oriented stuff.. Chemical Brothers are really great too.. Front 242 is more industrial, but is considered electronica/techno...Headhunter is a great song by them... All the Funker Vogt stuff is very angry and quick.... KMFDM is a great electronic/industrial type one...get the song "DIY" or "Megalomaniac" by them..both good. One of our forum members with a few Audi coupes can name more artists for you... |

Just got a great techno CD from a Scotland DJ - named Funk D'Void. The CD is called "Volume Freak". Killer CD, the single from it is hitting clubs across the UK.
No, he's not a friend of mine... ![]()

![]() You have a good list there, Kyle. Depends on what style you like. I'm a big, big Delerium fan. They have acres of music that most aren't aware of. Very techno-trance-industrial. Some of their early stuff is a bit bizarre, but I like stuff that's not mainstream. (They are the same guys that are in Frontline Assembly, I think it's called) If you have a good internet connection, try http://www.live365.com/index.live They have an awesome selection of stuff to listen to. It's a subscription web site, but you can listen to it for free. You just have to put up with advertisements, pop-ups, and getting booted off the station you're listening to when enough paying listeners tune into the same "station" you're listening to. But I use it the most here at work, with a pop-up blocker. It errors out and shuts down every couple hours, but easy to get back on.

Try these for techno/dance:
Sasha John Digweed Paul Van Dyke Try these for electronic/ambient: Sugarplant Bent Aphex Twin ECBM I'll post more when I think of them. The sound of Kraftwerk and Front 242 goes back a few years, I think, but I'm definitely not flaming anyone. |

Hmmm
Well Okrist..
Front 242 just released a brand new CD called "Pulse" Literally like one month ago... So not as "old sounding" as you might think. Your thinking of the real old stuff...Front By Front, Geography, that stuff is 80's. And its Tiverton, Rhode Island, in the USA. Not the UK. |

Well Okrist...
Front 242 just released a brand new CD called "Pulse" Literally like one month ago... I'm sure you're right. I haven't listened to either since '86-'88. I'll check it out. Some others to look into: Boards of Canada Paul Oakenfold. |
