Get in the car, we're going to Stalin World

http://edition.cnn.com/2001/WORLD/europe/04/03/grutas.theme/

This article is kind of old, but simply ridiculous.

"It combines the charms of a Disneyland with the worst of the Soviet gulag (prison camp)," said the park's 60-year-old founder

More recent websites (including travel info) show that it has since been toned down to a scenic park dotted with 50 or so sculptures from the Stalin era.

You do have to purchase a ticket to gain entrance though...

I went to GTMO several times in the 1970's. It was a really peculiar sociology back then. Probably hasn't changed an awful lot. There were Cubans who, I think, came to work inside the fence and went home to Cuban territory at might. Even the military society was peculiar, by military standards. Maybe because they trained as though the Cubans were going to start something so there was always a tension.

This will tell you just how strange it was. The most normal people there were the folks manning the submarine they used for training. An old diesel-electric snorkler. Here's the thing: When submariners are the most normal folks, its pretty nutty place.

Ya Z, we should let them run wild so their civil liberties to slash our throats aren't trampled on.

(Uh oh what have I done? I know I can't do battle with Z )
