I am so unastounded by this non-revelation. Don't you recall reading all about this like, last year maybe?
This is not even close to news. It's "Olds". B |

Eric,
Right on. We shouldn't be there. I listened to an interview recently on National Public Radio thet got me to thinking. The news during the Vietnam Era allowed reporters to show American service members being brought back in body bags, and also showed the severly dismembered. All you see in the news during this campaign is numbers on the screen. The media has been severly restricted to the point that we are being fed BS. What ever happened to the the freedom of the press. Oh, that's right; it is a matter of NATIONAL SECURITY. Remember that history is always written by the victors. Remember Custer? He was an A hole out of work and needed a job. Fortunately he found one at Little Big Horn. Post Script: Hemmingway was a tallented writer, but was also personally an A hole. Peter

I watched the news and politics as avidly in the sixties as I do now. Both gov and newsmedia played pretty loose with facts and images. The newsmedia learned that its power over imagery could affect policy and so began the era, in which we remain, of activist journalism.
This is a fundamental belief that journalists should be a force of "good" in society. Fortunately, they are possessed of such brilliance, intelligence, and integrity that they know what is good for us and so, make every effort to adjust our perception to fit their views. NPR is quintessentially of that belief. The nitwit who asked that inane question of Bush the other night was a classic example of that reportage. This news media malbehavior of course, does not excuse the gov's bad behavior. The gov acts to preserve its power, not the power of the individual. So, like the news media, the gov believes it knows what is best and adjusts its message to that goal. I would trust the news media more if they would report the news rather than make it. I would trust the gov if it wouldn't work to preserve its power at my expense--see the USA Patriot Act as an example. Obviously, neither the media not gov gives a $hit what any of us think, so the best course is to the pay the price of freedom. Know what the price of freedom is, don't you? B |

...I'm feeling kinda left out too. No free tickets to Russia in at least two months. I think I'm becoming too easy-going and unobtrusive--better ratchet it up a notch.
