Stun Guns for a window peeper

My daughter has suddenly been bothered by a window peeper, and has asked me to research “Stun Guns” and pepper sprays/foams. A real gun is not in her range of possibilities. Is anyone aware of any truly outstanding products – she wants the kind of sun gun that shoots, not a handheld? Help me be Daddy.

First, you must look at her residence. Is she in a house or apartment? First floor or upper floors? Dorm room?

Options are available, but will depend on her residential circumstances.

Re: the peeper – the cops, and I agree, is to install a camera – even if it’s a dummy, put up signs etc. She lives on the ground floor and her bedroom is next to the parking area. It’s a small building in West Hollywood and the entire building is like family to her. She wouldn’t move, and if she did where; it’s LA, and even though a building like this isn’t a security building, she feels it has it’s compensations. She’s really more concerned about when she’s walking the dog, going to the store etc. She just broke up with a professional bodyguard, and thinks this may be a buddy of his pulling a stunt to get her to call the old boyfriend. Anyway “VDude” I’m glad you don’t think Clinton’s responsible, well maybe he is – a lot of young guys have used his creative description of sex to their advantage.

First, she can ask the landlord to install/adjust adequate lighting to accommodate her.

Second, (if she hasn't done so already) is to notify the authorities.

Third, document as much as possible.

If the "peeper" is on private property, then the offense would be trespass. If he is on public property, like a sidewalk, road, etc. then there is no violation. Trespass should 1) be reported to the landowner; 2) the police or contracted security force and 3) your daughter needs some blinds, not a taser.

Laws and specific statutes vary from state to state, however without a specific statute, the common law is that if what is being "peeped" is in plain sight from a public area, it's not illegal. It may be rude, it may be insulting, but if you can see it from a public spot, it's not illegal, since the alleged victim has no "reasonable expectation of privacy" if they leave themselves exposed to public observation.

Somewhere there's a plaintiff's attorney just waiting for his client to be injured when shot at while walking past a window . . .

Please don't advise another person as to the use of force, deadly or otherwise, unless you're willing to stand in their shoes as the jury walks back into the courtroom.

She’s putting up black-out curtains. So - is the pepper foam better than the spray – how about the stun guns that shoot darts? Remember we’re now out walking the dog, not flashing our thong. Thanks for all the input – for me, I think “Snake Shot” in the first chamber is the way to go

Last summer, I was in Fairfax on business and had a couple hours to burn....headed over to the NRA Museum and check out what was there. I'm certain there was one or two things that could help out in this case

The most effective defense is an aggressive offense. I recommend video cameras.

I say you tell her to meet up with me, if she and I get along, we'll start dating. Then after that, I'll move in with her, and there you go, problem solved.
