FSS becomes history in 2005
http://www.mbusa.com/brand/container.jsp?/care/service/maintenance.jsp
Finally, the Flexible Service System will become part of the Mercedes history in 2005. Also the free maintenance will be gone too. Apparently MBUSA can't afford giving out free oil change anymore along with bunch of so called inspection. The new service would be 13000 miles or 1 year whichever comes first. That's because they charge themselves too much?

I don't think I could spend at least 40 or 50 grand on a car and not change the oil for a year or 13,000. I bet the oil companies don't like that idea. Regardless of this, I think I'd still change mine every 5000 with full synthetic Mobil. But I don't need to worry about this ridiculous service fiasco, as my 126 is going nowhere I doubt they could trade me straight up for a new one.

I currently have the last two Mercedes I will ever own.... and I'm quite happy with both of them. There are other M-Bs that I suppose I would buy, but a new one definitely wouldn't make the list.
(I will, however, eventually replace the Toyota Tacoma with another new Toyota pickup.) Wes |
